Files and filings

A file with its filings and the checklist

A file holds one patent family: the disclosure, the drafts, the filings, proceedings, letters and the time recorded. Each filing has office, kind (patent or utility model), language, status, the register data and the claimed priorities.

Checklist per office

Which documents a filing needs depends on the office: request, description, claims, abstract, drawings, inventor designation, power of attorney, priority document, translations. The checklist shows what is missing; drafts from the editor count automatically, other documents are uploaded or marked as not needed.

Follow-up filings

A foreign right - for example a US application - is imported from its PDF (with OCR) or from the EPO database. Its bibliographic data, claims and description are read, the deadlines for the follow-up filing are computed, and a translation is prepared with a terminology list or done by copy and paste.
